Useful Tips
Materials
For our wall art and name plaques, we offer MDF or PLYWOOD as our options. Both options offer a slightly different finish of the engraving.
MDF
MDF gives a more consistent finish throughout the project which is always a good option. it generally engraves the same colour each time because there are no variances in wood grain or colour of wood grain. MDF would suit people that don't care for the look of wood grain and colour differences in the grain.
As you can see with the two pictures above all the etched out areas are crisp and consistent.
PLYWOOD
PLYWOOD gives a grain look and it isn't something that can be replicated because every piece of ply is slightly different. You will also be left with a PLY layer look on the sides. This is a great option for someone that like to see wood grain and colour variances.
As you can see in the two pictures above, they are both still fantastic but have a lot more variance in the etching as you can see with the colour changes.
Painting Options
We offer three different painting options in total but for most products only two options will be available.
Option 1:
This is our base paint option which costs no extra.
With this option, we sand both sides of project then paint the face of the project with your preferred colour. This leaves the sides and back unpainted (still looks fantastic). We then seal the face and sides with a clear coat for protection.
As you can see above the face is painted but the sides are black from the laser cutter and the back will be plain wood.
Option 2:
This option costs a little more (you can see this in the product section in colour options). With this option, we sand both sides then paint face, sides and back with your preferred colour, then seal face, sides and back with clear coat for protection.
As you can see above the face and sides are painted, also the back is painted. it gives a nice finishing touch.
Option 3:
This option is only available for certain products, and it costs quite a lot more because it more than doubles our time spent on each product. With this option you can still pick Option 1 or 2 as well but this option paints the etched area of the product which on some projects can make them look absolutely stunning.
As you can see above this has been finished off with black in all the etched areas then sealed. They come out amazing but are extremely time consuming.
Hanging options
We offer four different hanging options.
We have tried to cover all options for your convenience, so you can pull the project out of the packaging and you will have the necessary mounting hardware at your fingertips to hang it within minutes.
-
Blu Tac = Good for houses that have older wallpaper as this option is least likely to do any damage. Please Note: This option is not likely to work with a 9mm MDF option due to the weight of the product.
-
3M tape = Interior double-sided tape, good for hard painted surfaces, suits more of a permanent fixing. This does come off but may damage paint depending on if your walls were primed properly etc.
-
Velcro strips = same as 3m tape except you can still pull project off wall with ease and the other half of the Velcro will still be attached to wall.
-
Hook and Rope = Rather self-explanatory. You will get a hook and some rope with attachment points on the project. This option is good for all walls except for the small holes left behind after.
We will not be held liable for any wall damage so please use at your own discretion.
